Maximilien de Bethune was the 1st Duke of Sully, Marquis of Rosny and Nogent, Count of Muret and Vilebon, Viscount of Meaux who was born in the year 1560 A.D. 13th December and died #onthisday 22nd December 1641 A.D. He was a soldier, nobleman, statesman and even the right-hand man of King Henry IV of France during his rule of France. Some said that Sully’s rule was in the role of building a strong central administrative systems in France.
While some of his policies were not original at that time, he was able to revitalize France in the European Religious wars. These ideas were later changed by monarchs who preferred absolute power.
