Kano Motonobu was born August 28th 1476 A.D. and died #onthsiday 5th November 1559 A.D.
He was a Japanese Painter and a member of the Kano School of painting.
Through his political connections, organization, patronage, and influence he was able to make the Kano school what it is known for today.
The system was responsible for the training of amazing painters throughout the Edo Period 1615-1868 A.D. Motonobu’s clientele were rich and powerful imperial courtiers and merchants mainly in Saki and Kyoto. One of his earliest contracts of work are found in a set of votive plaques.
