Isaac Abrahamszoon Massa was baptized in the 1586 A.D. on October 7th and died in Haarlem 1643 A.D.

He was a Dutch grain trader, diplomat (envoy to Muscovy) traveler. Isaac wrote memories to the Time of Troubles and managed to create some of the early maps of Eastern Europe and Siberia.

Due to his experience and knowledge of Muscovy, the Dutch consider him a “Kremlinologist”.

The Isaac Massa foundation was established in history to honor in Groningen. With the aims to progress and exchange cultural and scientific contacts between the Russian Federation and the Netherlands.
