Eadwig died #onthisday 1st October 959 A.D. and was remembered as the “The All-Fair” and was the King of England from 955 A.D. until his death in 959 A.D.

He was the elder son of King Edmund I and his queen Ælfgifu of Shaftesbury, Eadwig became king in 955 A.D. at the age of 15, following the death of his uncle, Eadred.

He had a short reign which was riddled with disputes with nobles and the men of the church, including Dunstan and the archbishop Oda. Eadwig was buried in the Capital of Winchester with his brother following on to the ruler as Edgar the Peaceful.
