Carl Theodor Korner was born #onthisday 23rd September 1791 A.D. and died 26th August 1813 A.D. He was a German Poet and soldier. Whilst spending some time in Vienna he managed to write some light-hearted comedies and other works from Burgtheater. Carl also became a soldier and joined the Lutzow free corps in the German uprising against Napoleonic rule.
In those times there was a display of personal courage in many fights and he also increased the morale of his comrades using the fiery patriotic lyrics which he composed amongst them are the “Schwertlied” (Sword Song). He was remembered as the “German Tyrateus”.
