Johan de Witt died 24th September 1625 A.D. and the died #onthisday 20th August 1672 A.D . He was a key figure in Dutch politics during the mid 17 century at a time of the flourishing sea trade in a period of globalization madness in the united province a leading European power during the Dutch Golden Age.
At a time De Witt controlled the Netherlands politics system from 160 until just before his death in 1672 A.D.
He worked with various different factions from nearly all major cities and especially in his home town of Dordrecht and with his wife’s hometown, Amsterdam.
He was a republic that was opposed to the house of Orange-Nassau, also strongly liberal and lesser to the central government and more power to regenten.
