Sir Henry de Montfort was born November 1238 A.D. and died #onthsiday 4th August 1265 A.D.

He was the son of Simon de Montfort the 6th Earl of Leicester and with his father they played a vital role in the struggle of the barons against King Henry III. Henry’s mother was Princess Eleanor of England and the daughter of King John, this resulted in great problems for those Barons who later revolted against the King.

Henry de Montfort sided with his father and the other nobles and made his namesake in the second rebellion in which he and his father emerged as the leaders of the rebellion and eventually the de facto leaders of the nation.
