Murad IV was born #onthisday in history 26/27th of July in 1612 A.D. and died in 8th February 1640 A.D.
He was a Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1623-1640 A.D. which was known for both restoring the authority of the state and for the brutality of his methods. Murad IV was born in the Imperial City of Istanbul, and the Son of Ahmed I 1603-1617 A.D. and the ethnic Greek Kosem Sultan.
He was brought to power by a palace conspiracy 1623 A.D. where he succeeded his uncle Mustafa I (1617-18, 1622-23.) Murad IV was only 11 when he took the throne. Throughout his reign, which was most notable for the Ottoman-Safavid War (1623-39 A.D.), of which the outcome would permanently split Caucasus between the two imperial powers of that century, it was the foundation that lay the borders of Turkey-Iran-Iraq.
