Artemisia Gentileschi was born #onthisday July 8th 1593 A.D. and died 1656 A.D. she was an Italian Baroque painter and considered one of the most accomplished painters of the era following of Caravaggio.

In that era when women painters were not easily accepted by the artists of that community and their patrons. She was the first woman to become a member of the Accademia di Arte del Disegno in Florence. Artemisia painted many strong and suffering woman from myths and the bible such as Suicides, warriors, and victims.
