Maerten van Heemskerck was born #onthisday in history 1st June 1498 A.D. and died in October 1574 A.D. he was a Dutch portraiture, while he spent most of his career in Haarlem.
He was also a pupil of Jan Van Scorel and had adopted his teacher’s Italian influenced style of art.
While he spent the years between 1532-6 A.D. in Italy, he produced many different types of engravings, especially in the works of “Wonders of the World”.
