Pietro Bembo was born #onthisday 20th May 1470 A.D. and died somewhere between 11-18 January 1547 A.D.

He was an Italian Poet, Scholar, literary theorist, Cardinal and even a Member of the Knights Hospitaller.

Pietro was a central figure in the development of Italian Language, specifically in the Tuscan literacy medium by the laying out of the Language for the Standard modern usage.

His works assisted in the 16h century revival of the interest of works by Petrach.
