Thomas Wentworth was the 1st Earl of Strafford, he was born 13th April 1593 A.D. and died #onthisday 12th May 1641 A.D. he was a major figure in the period leading up to the events of English Civil war and an English Statesman.

He also served in the parliament and was a supporter of King Charles I. Between the years of 1632-40 A.D. from the Lord Deputy of Ireland he also established a strong authoritarian rule.

Thomas was recalled to England to become an important advisor to the king and attempted to strengthen the royal rule in parliament.

However the Parliament put him to death with Charles signing the death Warrant.
