Luca Ghine was born in 1490 A.D. and died #onthisday in history May 4th 1556 A.D. He was an Italian Botanist and physician as the maker of the first record herbarium and the first botanical garden in Europe.

Luca was born in a area known as Casalfiumanse and a son of a notary, he studied medicine at the University of Bologna. In 1527 A.D. by then he was lecturing on the medicinal plants and even became a professor.

1544 A.D. he moved to a Pisa whilst maintaining his home in Bologna. He created the first herbarium in that year by drying many plants and pressing between the pieces of pattern and gluing them into a cardboard..
