Casimir III the great was born #onthisday in history 30th April 1310 A.D. and died 5th November 1370 A.D. he reigned as the King of Poland from 1333-1370 A.D.

Casimir was the son of King Wladyslaw I and the Duchess of Hedwig of Kaliz and the last Polish king from the Piast dynasty.

He inherited a weakened kingdom from the wars but he managed to make it Wealthy and prosperous.

Casimir was able to reform the Polish army and manage to double the size of the empire. The reforms included a judicial system by introducing the legal code to gain the title “The Polish Justinian”. He also built extensively also founded the oldest Polish university Karkow.

He was left with no male heir to the throne which led to the end of the Piast Dynasty ….
