Edward IV was born 28th April and died #onthisday 9th April 1483 A.D. he was the King of England from the year 1461 A.D. and reigned until 3rd October 1470 A.D. He even managed to reign for a second term from 11th April until his death in 1483 A.D. Edward was the first Yorkist to be King of England, from the first half of his reign it was a complicated and violent rule associated to the wars of the Roses.  Edward managed to overcome the Lancastrian challenge to the throne at Tewkesbury in 1472 A.D..

Before he was King he had many titles such as 4th Duke of York and the 7th Earl of March, 5th Earl of Cambridge and 9th Earl of Ulster.
