Constantius I was born onthisday 31st March 250 A.D. and died 25th July 306 A.D. he was a Roman Emperor from 293.AD – 306 A.D. He was the founder of the Constantinian dynasty and the father of Constantine the Great.

As Ceaser, he defeated the Allectus in Britain and campaigned heavily along the Rhine frontier against the Alammani and Franks who he had defeated. Upon becoming Augustus in 305 A.D. he launched a battle against the Picts beyond the Antonine war. However Constantius died suddenly in Eboracum which is modern day York following year.

With his death there was a collapse of the tetrarchy system of the government made by Emperor Diocletian.
