Jan Van Der Heyden was born onthisday 5th March 1637 A.D. in Gorinchem- and died 28th March 1712 A.D. in Amsterdam, he was a Dutch Baroque painter, draughtsman, and a glass painter.

He was the first Dutch to specialize in townscape and leading one of the architectural painters in Golden Age. During the start and the end of his life he painted still lifes.

Jan also emerged as a inventor and engineer who mad much contributions to contemporary fire fighting technology. in 1672 he improved a fire hose with his brother Nicolaes also worked on Hydraulic engineer.
