William IX was born 22nd October 1071 A.D. and died #onthisday, 10th February 1127 A.D. he was called “The Troubador” and was the Duke of Aquitaine , Gascony and Count of Poitou from 1086 A.D. until his death.

William was the son of William VIII of Aquitaine and his third wife Hildegarde of Burgundy.

William was one of the leaders in the Crusades of 1101 A.D.Through his power and political-military achievement he had an important part in history but his best known and earliest record was Troubadour. Vernacular lyricist and poet, in the Occitan language
