Oliver Ames was born #Onthisday 4th February, 1831 A.D. and died on October 22nd 1895 A.D. he was an American Businessman, politician of Massachusetts and Financier. Ames was the son of Oakes Ames, who was a railroad baron who was behind the construction of the Union Pacific Road, he was notably in the credit Mobilier scandal for these actions, while taking a United States Congressman.

Oliver was also the executor of his father’s estates and had taken over many of his business ventures and interests. A Republican, he was and served as the 35th Governor of Massachusettes for three years, 1887-1890 A.D.
