Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey born in the year of 1516/17 and died on the 19th of January he was an English aristocrat and the founder of English Renaissance poetry.

Henry was the first cousin of Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, who were second and fifth wives of King Henry VIII.

The Howards were regarded as the “New man” who had risen to power through the court, much like Thomas Cromwell and the Seymours.

 

The Howards had many enemies in the courts. The Paranoia of Henry VIII consumed by his increasing illness. He was convinced that surrey had planned to usurp the crown from his own son Edward. The king had Surrey arrested and imprisoned along with his father and both were sentenced to death #Onthisday 13th of January 1547 A.D.
