Xu Xiake was born #onthisday in history January 5th 1587 A.D. and died on March 8th 1641 A.D. he was a Chinese travel writer and a geographer during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Best remembered for his geographical treasures and noted for his personality of humility and bravery.

Xu travled throughout China for over 30 years writing down his detailed travels he had.

The recordings of his travels were put together in the (The Travel Diaries Xu Xiake) which was translated by Ding Wenjiang. Xu style of writing was under the old Chinese category which was travel record literature, which use prose and narrative in was perception.
