Jeremiah Horrocks was born in the year of 1618 A.D. and died #onthisday 3rd January 1641 A.D.

He was an English astronomer. The first person to ably demonstrate that the moon was able to move around the Earth in a “elliptical orbit”. Jeremiah was the only person to successfully predict the transit of Venus of 1639 A.D. in which him and his friend William Crabtree were the only two people to record and observe.

Jeremiah’s time of death was during a bloody period of English history of “English civil war’ which nearly resulted in the loss of his science and his treatise on transit lost “Venus in Sole Visa”. With which he was acknowledged as one of the founding fathers of British astronomy.
