Herman Boerhaave was born #onthisday 31st December 1669 A.D. and died in 23rd September 1738 A.D. was a Duch botanist, Christian humanist, Chemist and a physician of European fame.

Herman was regarded as one of the founders of the clinical teaching and the modern academic hospital and is remembered as the “father of physiology”. Alongside the Venetian physicians Santoro, Santoro also introduce the approach of quantitative.

Remembered for the relations between the symptoms to lesions and in addition he was the first to isolate the chemical urea from the urine.
