Richard of York, 3rd Duke of York was born in 21st September 1411 A.D. and died #onthisday 30th December 1460 A.D. he was the leading English Magnate and the Great-grandson of King Edward III through his father and on the mother side he was great-great-great grandson of the same king.
Richard had a massive inheritance of estates and served various office states in France, Ireland and England, he became a lord Protector during the madness of the King Henry VI. This lead to conflict with Henry’s Wife, Margaret of Anjou and other members in Henry’s court, whilst he was claiming the throne, there was major factors and political upheaval which lead to the Wars of the Rose.
Henry agreed that Richard would became king but within a few weeks of this agreement Richard had died in battle. Nevertheless Richard never became king but his sons became king Edward IV and King Richard III.
