Thomas James Alan Henderson was born #onthisday 28th December 1798 A.D. and died on 23rd November 1844 A.D. He was a Scottish astronomer and mathematician, Henderson was the first person to measure distant Alpha Centauri. There was a major component to the nearest stellar system to the earn and the first been Astronomer Royal Scotland.

Whilst growing up he was born in Dundee, educated in High School of Dundee, in which he was a lawyer but worked his way up in another profession. In which his major hobbies were mathematics and astronomy.

He passed up the opportunity over that which his recommendation was able to get him a Position at Royal Observatory at the Cape of Good Hope.
