Arthur III was born on 24th August 1393 A.D. and died #onthisday 26th December 1458 A.D. he was the Duke of Brittany and Count of Montfort by inherited title upon his nephew’s death. Arthur was the younger son of the John IV Duke and from his third wife Joanna of Navarre which was member of the Ducal House of Montfort.
A year before his own death after inheriting the title from his Nephew Peter II as Duke. Arthur had also gained the titles Earl of Richmond and the earldom which was often granted to Dukes of Brittany. He was an important figure in the French court and the Hundreds years war before he was the Duke of Brittany.
Arthur picked the side of Armagnac which was a faction against the Burgundians during the civil conflict in France between 1410-1414 A.D. He fought during the Battle of Agincourt on 25th October 1415 A.D. in which he was captured and wounded.
Arthur as Constable of France fought against the great Joan of Arc during her major victory at the Battle of Patay on 18 June 1412 A.D.
