Margaret of Provence was born in 1221 A.D. and died #onthisday 20th December, she was the Queen of France and the wife of King Louis IX.
Margaret was born in the year of 1221 A.D. in Spring from Forcalquair. She was the elder daughter of the four daughters of Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Provence and Beatrice of Savoy. Margaret had sisters known as Queen Sanchia of Germany, Queen Eleanor of England and Queen Beatrice of Sicily.
She had a special relationship with Eleanor, she was close in age and maintained close relations until they grew old.
1233 A.D. Blanche of Castile sent one of her knights to the Provence to stop some troublesome uprisings, Raymond VII, Count of Toulouse who went to meet Margaret, known for her beauty and grace.
The leadership during the crusades brought her international recognition after she went back to France.
