Carloman II was born in in 866 A.D. and died #onthisday in history 12th December 884 A.D. he was the king of West Francia, whilst being the youngest son of King Louis Stammerer and Ansgarde of Burgundy he became the king jointly with his brother, Louis II of France on their fathers death in 879 A.D.
In the beginning there were some Frankish nobles who opted to elect Louis III as the sole king, however both brothers were elected as king. The brothers had obtained the acceptance on March 880 A.D. which divided the realms of Amiens, Carloman gained the southern Kingdom of Burgundy and Kingdom of Aquitaine.
The powerful Duke of the Boso Provence who had allegiance to both brothers, had been elected to the king of the Provence. After the accidental death of Louis III in August 882 A.D. he became the sole ruler of West Francia. The death of Carloman II, who died whilst Hunting on 12th December 884 A.D. and his cousin succeeded the throne, Charles the Fat.
