There was a long period of storms which caused waves to reach unbelievable heights they were even higher than the flood disasters of 1953 A.D. This broke the dikes of the Dutch coasts and caused massive floods and large amounts of damage. The death and turmoil thought is thought to have been in ten of thousands but the figures are not available. The lose of home and livestock were at an all time large. In Zeeland the loss of the small island of Wulpen, Koezand, Cadzand and Stuivezand.
