George III was born on 4th June 1738 A.D. and died on 29th January 1820 A.D. he was the King of Great Britain and Ireland from 25th October 1760 A.D. until the act of Union between the two countries which was on 1st January 1801 A.D.which him the King of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland until his death. He was a Duke and prince-elector of the Brunswick-Luneburg (Hanover) which was part of the Holy Roman Empire until his promotion to the King of Hanover on 12th October 1814 A.D. George was the third British monarch of the house of Hanover, but unlike his predecessor he was born in Britain and spoke English as his first language and never went to Hanover.

The life of George and his reign was longer than any other ruler before him, which was marked by series of military conflicts involving his kingdom and the rest of Europe. Even places as far as Africa, the Americas and Asia. The first years of his reign Britain was defeated by France in the seven-year war, becoming the power house in the European world, in north America and India. Some years later Britain’s American colonies were soon lost in the American War of Independence.


The final stages of George III life he became mentally ill for a while but the effect eventually became a permanent mental illness. It has been suggested that the Blood disease porphyry caused his illness but this remains unproven….
