Edgar the Etheling was born in the year of 1051 A.D. and died 1126 A.D. he was the last male from the royal house of Cerdi of Wessex. Edgar was Proclaimed King but never crowned, king of England 1066 A.D. When King Edward died in January 1066 A.D. Edgar was still young but was not an effective military leader largely due to his age.

When William conquered England he kept Edgar in custody and took him, along with other English leaders to his court in Normandy in 1067 A.D. before returning England with them.
