#Onthisday in history Eleanor of England was born 13 October 1162 A.D. and died on 31st October 1214 A.D. she was the queen of Toledo and Castile and the wife of Alfonso VIII of Castile. She was the Sixth child and the daughter of Henry II king of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine.

In the year 1174 A.D. she married King Alfonso VIII of Castile when she was 12 in Burgos, But the couple was promised and betrothed in 1170 A.D. But due to the factor of the Brides youth and the uproar in Europe because of her father’s suspected involvement in the Murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket because of this the wedding was delayed.
