The battle of Arnemuiden was the naval battle which took place #onthisday in history 23rd September 1338 A.D. it was the beginning of the 100 years war between France and England. This was the first European naval Battle which used Artillery as the English ship Christopher had three cannons and one handgun.
The battle had a vast French fleet under the Admirals of Nicolas Behuchet and Hugues Quiret against the small squadron of five great English cogs transporting a cargo of wool to Antwerp, where Edward III of England was hoping to sell it in order pay his allies.
Though there were superior numbers with some of the crew still on the shore, the English ships fought Bravely especially those under Christoper who commanded greatly. another captain was John Kingston, while Kingston surrendered after a day of fighting due to the sheer exhaustion of the battle.
