Romulus Augustus was born on 461 A.D. and died after the years of 476 A.D. But #onthisday in history 4th September Romulus was the final emperor of the Western Roman Emperor in the year of 476 A.D. Augustus only reigned a little under a year. This is marked as the traditional date of the ancient Roman Empire’s start of the middle ages.
HE was known as the Little Augustus because of his name. In historical records he was proclaimed emperor by his father Orestes “Masters of Soldiers”. Romulus was just a child and acted as a figurehead for his Father to rule, only for ten months. Soon after he was defeated by Odoacer who executed Orestes and Romulus was sent to live in Castellum Lucullanum, where he disappeared from historical records.
