Nikephoros II Phokas was born in 912 A.D. and died on 11th December 969 A.D. he was the Byzantine Emperor 963-969 A.D. During his military career his exploits continued to contribute to the re-rise of the Byzantine Empire during the 10 century A.D. Nikephoros was popular with the army in which they had help him to be crowned.

There was tension in the west and east which resulted in policies to be pursued by Nikephoros which was an ill-mannered description by his court “Bishop Liutprand of Cremana” was quoted there was ill-treatment received on the diplomatic mission in Constantinople. Nikephoros was seen as not good at diplomacy but only a good man of war.
