#Onthisday in history the Battle of Mantinea was fought, July 4th 362 B.C. it was between the Thebans which were led by the Epaminondas and supported by Arcadians and the Boeotian league against the Spartans. The Spartans were lead by King Agesilaus II who was supported by the Eleans, Mantineans and Athenians. This was an important battle which determined, out of the two alliances, who would have power and Hegemony over Greece. The death of Epaminondas and his intended successors which doubled the impact of the defeated alliances this lead the way for the Macedonian conquest by the Philip of Macedon.
