#Onthisday in history Fulk III the black died 21st June 1040 A.D. he was born in 970 A.D. he was the early Count of Anjou and celebrated as one of the great builders of the medieval castle, it was said he had constructed 100 of them, with abbeys, across the Loire Valley in France. He also fought successive battles with his neighbors in Brittany, Bolis , Poitou and Aquitaine and he travelled four times to Jerusalem on pilgrimage during his life. Fulk III also had a family of two wives and three children.

It was said he was a natural horseman and a fearsome warrior, with a natural sense of military strategy which saw him better most of his enemies.
