Simeon I the great who ruled over Bulgaria from 893 until 927A.D. #onthisday he died but he was the first Bulgarian to be recognised as an Emperor. During the first Bulgarian Empire the Simeons had great success in the campaigns against the Magyar, Byzantines and the Serbs, this was set to be the greatest territorial expansion in Bulgarian history. Through history, his rule was one of the most powerful known to the eastern Europeans and his reign and achievement, cultural prosperity and enlightenment which was later seen as the golden age of the Bulgarian culture.
During the reign of the Simeons, Bulgaria was spread between the Aegean, Adriatic and Black Sea as such the Bulgarian capital Preslav was said to rival Constantinople.
