#Onthisday in a groovy history Philip I was born 23rd May 1052 A.D. until 29th July 1101 A.D. The son of Henry I and his wife Anne of Kiev. He was the king of the Franks from 1060 A.D. until his death. His reign for that period was like most of his earlier Capetians, he had lived extraordinarily long for that time. The monarchy started a modest recovery from the low, from his father’s reign and added to the “Royal Demesne” the Vexin and Bourges.
For the most part of his reign, like his father , he spent putting down revolts by his power-hungry vassals, in the year of 1077 A.D. he mad peace with William the Conqueror, who gave up the conquest of Brittany.
