#Onthisday in a groovy history, Edmund Beaufort died on the 6th may 1471 A.D. Edmund Beaufort was born in the year 1438 A.D. he was the 4th duke of Somerset of Lancaster and an English nobleman, a military commander during the war of the roses, who supported the Lancastrians.

After a major defeat for the Lancastrians in 1461  A.D. Edmund was brought up in France with his younger brother known as John Beaufort, and on the execution of his elder brother Henry Beaufort 3rd Duke of Somerset, he had succeeded him to be the 4th duke of Somerset in February 1471 A.D.
