Philip IV of Spain was born #onthisday 8th April 1605 A.D. he was the king of Spain known as “PhilipIV” in Castille and Philip III in Aragon.

He ruled from the year of 1621 A.D. and reigned until his death; he also ruled Portugal until the years of 1640 A.D. He was remembered as a great patron of the arts, and supported artists such as “Diego Velazques, who ruled over Spain during the challenging period of the thirty years war.

In the year 1665 A.D. his death is recorded at the time of the Spanish Empires peak, the great height of the owned land was 12.2 million square kilometers, though the land was great Phillips respect declined because Philip was unable to achieve any domestic and military reform.
