His full name was Adul Muzaffar Muhi-ud-din Muhammed Aurangzeb but known as “Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb’s imperial title name was known as Alamgir which meant: World conqueror or Universe Conqueror.
He came from the house of “Timurid” which was a Turco-Mongol family of rulers, who ruled much of the Indian sub continent during some eras. His reign lasted for 49 years from 1658 until his death 1707 Today.
Aurangzeb conquered various parts of India and he was a notable expansionist during his rain, and under his rule the Mughal Empire reached its greatest extent. Throughout his life he ruled over a vast amount of land around 3.2 million square kilometers with population in the range of 100-150 million, in the year of 1690 the Empires total income was around£38,624,680 which was the highest of the time.
By the year of 1689 most of Southern India came under the rule of the Mughal Empire, and is remembered as the most powerful and richest of them .
Aurangzeb had policies which abandoned of the idea of pluralism, but his reign was a very controversial aspect which also played a part of the downfall of the Mughal Empire, there were many rebellions and wars which cost the Imperial Mughal treasury and army dearly. He ruled with a iron fist “Authoritarian ruler Until his death. After him the Mughal empire had started to decline.
