1473 – Nicolaus Copernicus, Polish mathematician and astronomer #Onthisday in #history
He was known as a Renaissance mathematician and astronomer who formulated a model of the universe that’s placed rather than the Earth at the Center of the Universe.
The model of his theory was published in his book the “De revolutionibus orbium coelestium” which translates to “On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres”. Just before his death in 1543 this was considered a major event in the “history of Science” which considers the Copernican Revolution a vital Contributor to the Scientific Revolution.
Copernicus was born and died in Royal Prussia which was part of the Kingdom of Poland in 1466. Here, some of his skill sets were developed and the profession of polyglot and polymath in which he attained a doctorate in canon law and also practiced as a physician and much more.
He was a third order of “Dominican”
He was a great man in History of shaping and changing our world even today.
